About the role
Under the supervision of the FLSC Nursing Supervisor and the Surgical Services RN Manager, and in accordance with approved policies and procedures, the Endoscopy Registered Nurse provides high-quality nursing care to promote patient comfort, safety, and optimal clinical outcomes. The RN maintains patient confidentiality at all times and applies the nursing process and professional nursing standards to deliver safe and effective care throughout the endoscopy continuum. The nurse provides ongoing education to patients and families, ensuring understanding of procedures, expectations, and follow-up needs. The RN maintains current clinical knowledge and competency through continuing education, in-service programs, departmental competencies, and self-development activities. As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, the Endoscopy RN collaborates closely with providers and staff to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
Education:
Minimum: Graduate of accredited school of professional nursing.
Preferred: Bachelors Degree in Nursing
License/
Certifications:
License: Current NYS license.
Certifications: BLS & ACLS certifications required through the RQI system during clinical oriention. Coronary Care obtiained within six months of hire. Moderate sedation competency within six months of hire into this position. SGNA certification recommended within 2-years.
Experience:
Minimum: One-year of acute care experience. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Preferred: One-year of critical care experience.
Other:
Minimum: The Endoscopy Registered Nurse must be able to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet required deadlines while promoting teamwork through positive role modeling. The role requires familiarity with Joint Commission requirements and consistent adherence to regulatory and accreditation standards. Strong leadership, interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills are essential. The RN must demonstrate professionalism and courtesy when interacting with patients, families, staff, and the public. Occasional on-call shifts may be required.
Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Office products including word, excel and power point.

Population Specific
Requirements:
The staff member must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed by pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient group.
