Overview

We're Hiring: Cook - The Bancroft School - Mountainside, NJ 

Hours: FT    8a-2:30p - M-F  (36 hrs. /wk) 

Department: Facilities 

Hourly Rate: $20.50- $24/hr. 

Position Summary:

Provides assistance to the Lead Cook in the preparation and serving of food to students/persons served that meetsapproved quality, nutrition, health, and safety regulations and requirements.

Responsibilities

Under the guidance of Manager/Food Services and following specific menu and preparation instructions,provides assistance in the preparation of daily meals for students/persons served in the Bancroft School; e.g.,prepares salads and sandwiches; stirs soups; prepares starches; washes, peels, and slices fruits andvegetables; seasons, grinds, and carves meats, etc., in a safe and sanitary manner. 

• Prepares food for serving, arranges serving trays, and replenishes serving lines as necessary, to ensure the
• availability of prepared foods throughout the course of the meal.
• Reviews production schedule to determine food requirements including variety and quantity of food for
• preparation and to assemble supplies and equipment needed for daily cooking activities.
• Properly operates, cleans, and sanitizes kitchen work area, countertops, equipment, supplies, and tools to
• ensure a safe and healthy work environment at all times.
• Properly stores food, leftovers, etc., in accordance with approved food storage and refrigeration requirements.
• Participates in the preparation and serving of foods for special catered events sponsored by Bancroft; e.g., Board
• meetings, special conferences, committee meetings, etc.; as required.
• Projects a positive self-image of technical professionalism, appearance, confidentiality, courtesy, conduct,
• honesty, fairness, and personal integrity at all times.
• erforms other food service and food preparation activities, as required. Remains flexible and adaptable in work
• schedules and work assignments as defined by organizational and departmental needs.
• Abides by the Bancroft Code of Ethics, Mission Statement, and Vision Statement in promoting ethical behavior,
• establishing relationships and providing guidance in decision-making situations.
• Remains current with required training certifications, meets state-regulated licensing and regulatory
• accreditations, and adheres to mandatory requirements.
• Maintains effective verbal and written communications with colleagues, those served, and their family members
• and/or guardians when applicable.
• Willingly and effectively cooperates with Bancroft NeuroHealth, The Department of Human Services, The
• Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), and other licensing or state agency or local municipalities in any
• inspections and investigations, upon request.
• Maintains a safe and respectful environment, free of abuse, neglect, or exploitation; does not allow weapons,
• threats, bullying or intimidation.
• Reports any violations to the appropriate individual as soon as the incident occurs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• A minimum of one year of prior experience in food preparation andserving
