About the role
Discipline Manager – Suspension, Wheels/Tires & Mounts is responsible for leading the strategy, development, and execution of a segment within Chassis & Dynamics. This role directs a team of engineers and leaders with core engineering standards, technical center requirements, and enterprise business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and sustain strategic relationships with product peers and engineering, research, business, design, and functional domain teams to design and manage vehicle engineering strategy
- Lead all vehicle engineering governance decisions in collaboration with internal stakeholders to optimize key business goals and enhance our control of key, critical body components
- Application of global best practices, common parts, and common DVPR
- Leads product design release to meet technical centers’ requirements
- Facilitate research, design, development, and engineering skill development for the team
- Executes sourcing, industrial phases and series production activities
- Collaborate with key cross-functional stakeholders including Product Design Office, Quality, Manufacturing and Brand
- Lead executive to bridge advanced architecture team solutions from concept to sourcing execution
- Support the organization in the optimization and implementation of related subsystems
- Optimized cost, quality and on-time delivery by improving the efficiency of all development activities and adhering to standard corporate processes.
- Lead overall development activities for special project vehicles
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related degree field
- Minimum of 15 years of product development experience in engineering
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in program execution
- Strong understanding of the function and performance characteristics
- Knowledge of key manufacturing processes
- Ability to evaluate system-level functional requirements and conduct trade-off analyses to determine optimal architecture solutions that meet vehicle-level objectives
- Strong understanding of engineering development processes required to ensure robust and optimized design development
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Business, Strategic Management, or a related field
- Black Belt or Green Belt certification
- Experience in manufacturing, quality, supplier operations, or related cross-functional execution roles
