About the role

This position is located in the Office of Screening Analysis and Coordination (CA/VO/SAC) within the Department of State. The Office: a) Coordinates interagency screening and vetting checks for all visa applicants, including by responding to Security Advisory Opinions (SAOs) on the visa eligibility of foreign nationals who may fall within the purview of subsections 212(a)(3)(A), (B), (C), (D), (E), (F), and (G) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA).

Leads a team of analysts in a wide range of complex visa and immigration security policy and procedural matters.

Performs in-depth reviews of cases to recommend whether a visa should be denied or revoked, based on careful review of case facts and the application of appropriate legal or policy restrictions.

Serves as an expert advisor on a broad range of complex issues relating to specific visa screening procedures within the assigned portfolio.

Conducts extensive ongoing liaison and coordination with other Department bureaus and offices to share information and to ensure an integrated response to highly complex national security issues.

Develops and presents training and briefings to colleagues in the Visa Office on a wide range of topics related to the assigned portfolio.
