About the role
This vacancy is for a GS-0201-14, Supervisory Human Resources Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, OPERATING LOCATION-CIV HR RESOURCE OPS NE -CG-1C3NE -BALTIMORE MD in BALTIMORE, Maryland.
You will serve as a Supervisory Human Resources Specialist and be responsible for providing a full range of civilian human resources services to various commands throughout the country, but primarily in the southeast region. Serves as a recognized human resources technical authority in the areas of staffing, classification, compensation, and processing of personnel actions with specific responsibility for the supervision and day-to-day operations of the center staff in the HR Service Center - North East. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Supervising Center Operations directing day-to-day operations of a multi-graded HR team, ensuring timely and accurate workload distribution, production tracking, and quality assurance of personnel actions and advisory services. Serving as a technical authority providing authoritative HR advisory services in staffing, classification, compensation, and personnel action processing; and ensuring region-wide program compliance with laws, regulations, and policies. Monitoring and improving program effectiveness evaluating operational effectiveness by conducting internal audits, workload analyses, and quality reviews. Executing supervisory duties including hiring, performance management, training, and disciplinary actions for staff across multiple HR functional areas. Leading special projects and congressional inquiries, FOIA requests, and Commandant taskers and ensuring legal and regulatory accuracy. Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position. Transcripts should be legible and detailed, showing course number and department (i.e., bio 101, math 210, etc.), course title, number of credit hours, and grade earned. If course content cannot be easily identified from the title of the course as listed on your transcript, you must submit an official course description from the college/university that reflects the content at the time the course was taken. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet Federal qualification requirements if you can show that your foreign education is comparable to education received in accredited educational institutions in the United States.
