About the role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
The Acute Care Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice. Technically proficient in initiating, performing, and completing assigned duties in providing care to variable patient populations. Knowledge and ability to appropriately carry out assigned patient care based on the patents' conditions; to use judgment in selecting the appropriate order and sequence of procedures and treatments; and to accurately recognize, report and record relevant patient information. Duties include: - Delivers care to the patient in respect, non-judgmental manner and according to patient's plan of care. Sets limits within the nurse/patient relationship which are clearly defined. - Recognizes significant changes in patient's condition/response to the Registered Nurse. - Accurately documents and retrieves patient information utilizing CPRS. - Performs aspects of patient education as directed (i.e., health promotion, glucometer, B/P monitoring, etc.). - Maintains a safe/clean work environment. - Adheres to standards or practice and safe technique in preparation and administration of medicine. - Observes patient for adverse effect from medication and reports to the RN Care Manager. - Employs appropriate lifting/moving/transfer techniques/devices. - Possesses knowledge of proper handling and pre-cleaning of reusable medical equipment. - Works effectively with patients/families/visitors/co-workers/ and/or members of the other services to promote positive interactions. - Other duties, as assigned. You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job.
