Position Summary

The Housekeeper plays an important role in creating a clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment for residents and guests. This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of resident apartments, common areas, and other assigned community spaces while providing courteous and respectful service.

The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and takes pride in creating a well-maintained environment where residents feel comfortable and at home.

Essential Job Duties

• Perform routine housekeeping duties in resident apartments, including vacuuming, dusting, cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms and kitchens, and cleaning assigned surfaces.
• Clean and maintain hallways, common areas, and other assigned community spaces.
• Follow established cleaning schedules and complete assignments according to priorities established by the supervisor.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, appearance, and organization throughout assigned areas.
• Properly use, clean, and maintain housekeeping equipment, tools, and supplies.
• Safely use and store cleaning products and chemicals according to established procedures and manufacturer instructions.
• Monitor housekeeping supplies and communicate replenishment needs to the supervisor.
• Properly collect and dispose of trash and waste from assigned areas.
• Respect residents’ personal belongings and maintain resident privacy and confidentiality at all times.
• Report maintenance concerns, damaged items, safety hazards, or unusual conditions observed in resident apartments or common areas to the appropriate supervisor.
• Provide courteous and professional service when interacting with residents, families, guests, and team members.
• Follow established infection prevention, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
• Participate in required meetings, in-service training, and educational sessions.
• Work collaboratively with other departments to support the cleanliness, appearance, and overall resident experience of the community.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
  
   

Requirements

Qualifications

• Previous housekeeping, environmental services, hotel, senior living, or similar experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and established cleaning procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
• Ability to organize and prioritize assigned responsibilities and complete tasks efficiently.
• Ability to safely use standard housekeeping equipment, cleaning products, and supplies.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally and respectfully with residents, families, guests, and team members.
• Dependable, professional, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Ability to maintain resident privacy and confidentiality.
• Must maintain a flexible schedule based on community needs, including weekends and holidays as required.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to eight (8) hours during the workday.
• Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, stretch, twist, push, and pull while performing housekeeping duties.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds independently.
• Ability to push and pull housekeeping carts and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds across carpeted, tiled, and other surfaces.
• Ability to safely operate vacuums and other standard housekeeping equipment.
• Ability to work around furniture, personal belongings, and breakable objects while maintaining appropriate care and attention.
• May be exposed to cleaning and sanitation products, unpleasant odors, varying temperatures, and other conditions associated with housekeeping responsibilities.
• May have exposure to communicable illnesses while working in a senior living environment and must follow established infection prevention and personal protective equipment procedures.
• Must follow established safety procedures for the proper handling and use of cleaning products, chemicals, equipment, and supplies.
