About the role
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate required
- A minimum of 10 years' progressive experience in a related field required
- Knowledge of U. S. federal procurement laws, rules, and regulations for commercial items contracting, Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS).
- Should have substantive legal knowledge and the ability to counsel Sales and other key stakeholders in the following areas: government procurement, GSA contracting, commercial items contracts, licensing, data privacy and security, and intellectual property.
- Must be a lawyer qualified to practice in at least one U.S. State, and have a law degree from a reputable law school.
- Licensed Attorney (varies by state) required

Certain states and localities require employers to post a reasonable estimate of salary range. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $232,400 to $290,500 annually. Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in the base pay.

A Brief Overview:
The Chief Counsel supports outbound sales transactions for the company's United States customers in a variety of industries. This position reports directly to Deputy General Counsel and works directly with commercial line of business, providing day to day advice for senior executives and other business members on contracting issues, resolving issues that arise in existing relationships, and handling prelitigation legal disputes and inquiries.
Responsibilities:
- Provides advice on a variety of issues impacting all aspects of the Company's business.
- Identifies and analyzes legal issues, drafts key documents, presents clear recommendations, and assures legal compliance.
- Leads and directs the work of members of the legal department staff.
- Manages and ensures cost effective services from outside counsel.
- Provides a high level of client service and performs excellent work under time pressure.
