Your role at Baxter

As a Sr. Trade & Customs Analyst, you will help ensure Baxter's import and export activities remain compliant with international trade, customs, and government regulations across the U.S. and Canada region. You'll serve as a key trade compliance resource, partnering with cross-functional teams to manage compliance risks, support customs activities, identify cost-saving opportunities, and drive process improvements.

Reporting to the UCAN Regional Trade & Customs Manager, you'll play an important role in supporting Baxter's global trade strategy while helping ensure the efficient movement of products that impact patients around the world.


Your team

You will report directly to the UCAN Regional Trade & Customs Manager and collaborate with teams across Supply Chain, Logistics, Procurement, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing, Tax, Quality, and R&D. You'll also work closely with customs brokers, government agencies, and external service providers to support trade compliance and operational excellence.


What you'll be doing

  • Support import and export compliance activities across the UCAN region, ensuring adherence to customs, trade, and government regulations.
  • Monitor changes in global trade regulations and assess potential impacts to the business.
  • Conduct audits and reviews of import/export transactions, filings, and trade compliance programs, implementing corrective actions when needed.
  • Manage export control activities, including denied party screening, sanctions compliance, export classifications, and licensing requirements.
  • Determine Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications and country of origin requirements.
  • Identify and support cost-saving opportunities including duty drawback, Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ), free trade agreements, and other trade programs.
  • Serve as a trade compliance advisor to internal partners and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate compliance requirements into business operations.
  • Support customs audits, government inquiries, and interactions with customs authorities and regulatory agencies.
  • Develop, maintain, and update trade compliance procedures, documentation, and training materials.
  • Support trade compliance projects, process improvements, and standardization initiatives across the region.
  • Assist with trade compliance integration efforts related to acquisitions and business changes.
  • Provide reporting and analysis related to trade compliance performance and supply chain activities.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, International Trade, Logistics, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in international trade compliance, customs, import/export operations, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting U.S. and Canadian trade compliance programs.
  • Experience with trade programs such as Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ), duty drawback, AEO, or free trade agreements.
  • Familiarity with trade compliance tools such as CROSS, Customs Info, BTIs, or similar systems.
  • Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement experience.
  • Working knowledge of trade compliance principles, including tariff classification, product valuation, country of origin, export controls, and customs regulations.
  • Experience interacting with customs authorities, government agencies, customs brokers, or trade service providers.
  • Understanding of global logistics and supply chain operations, including air, ocean, truck, rail, and warehousing.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $76,000 - $104,500 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change.
