Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol, New Orleans Sector, Sector Intelligence Unit in New Orleans, LA. Additional selections may be made beyond the total number of vacancies specified using this vacancy announcement. This position will allow you to use your expertise to prevent illegal entry of aliens into the United States by land, water, or air; enforce criminal provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Laws; and seek out and apprehend smugglers or aliens who are in the United States illegally. As a first-line Supervisory Border Patrol Agent (Intelligence), you will serve as a primary law enforcement officer (under 5 U.S.C. 8336 (c) and 8412 (d)) and be responsible for directing intelligence-driven enforcement operations that support the detection, interdiction, and apprehension of terrorists, undocumented noncitizens, smugglers, narcotics, and other contraband. Typical duties will include: Directing assignments of subordinate Border Patrol Agents during shift operations, specialized assignments, and enforcement activities. Collecting, refining, analyzing, and disseminating strategic and tactical intelligence to support Border Patrol operations and interagency law enforcement efforts. Deploying personnel, technology, and resources to target areas of greatest risk based on current intelligence, threat analysis, and operational priorities. Supervising the gathering and review of evidence, preparation of criminal and administrative cases, tracking of suspects and evidence, and coordination of court-related activities. Ensuring compliance with Department, Agency, Sector, and station policies, including data integrity, operational practices, training requirements, and accountability measures.
