About the role

The primary function of this position is to increase access to health care and public health education, provide care coordination, advocate for quality student-centered care and manage a comprehensive school-based health program for pediatric and adolescent patients. This position is primarily stationed at a school-based health clinic within Gallup Indian Medical Center. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).

Skill in applying nursing judgment and clinical decision-making to recognize changes in patient condition, respond appropriately to emergencies, provide telehealth and telephone triage, implement evidence-based standards of care, document services accurately, and coordinate care with healthcare providers, specialists, families, schools, and community partners. Knowledge and skill in public health, community health assessment, and health promotion sufficient to identify community health needs and hazards, plan and implement outreach activities, participate in screenings, immunization clinics, health fairs, and physical examinations, and collaborate with tribal, state, federal, school, and community organizations. Ability to develop and deliver culturally and linguistically appropriate health education and training for students, families, teachers, school administrators, and community members, including the ability to develop educational materials and programs addressing nutrition, physical fitness, mental health, disease prevention, and other health and wellness needs. Ability to evaluate healthcare programs and apply quality improvement principles through data collection and analysis, identification of trends and service gaps, development of corrective action plans, presentation of findings to leadership and governing bodies, participation in interdisciplinary committees, maintenance of regulatory compliance, and continuous professional development.

Background Investigation Requirement: This position requires the successful completion of a federal background investigation as a condition of employment. Timely completion is critical to avoid delays in processing or a determination of unsuitability.
