About the role
Purpose of Position: The Material Handler supports the success of the Injection Department by ensuring the timely delivery, staging, and replenishment of plastic resins and raw materials used in injection molding operations. This position plays an important role in maintaining efficient production processes, minimizing downtime, and ensuring the consistent manufacture of quality plastic injection products that meet customer requirements.
Essential Job Functions
- Supply the correct type and color of resin to injection molding machines according to the production schedule while minimizing downtime.
- Load hoppers and dryers and ensure machines maintain an adequate and continuous supply of materials.
- Monitor material usage and coordinate timely replenishment to prevent production delays and interruptions.
- Accurately label and document material usage, lot numbers, and material changes to maintain proper tracking and inventory records.
- Clean material bins, hoppers, dryers, and conveying lines to prevent cross-contamination.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve resin-related feeding issues promptly to minimize production disruptions.
- Remove, transport, and properly store work-in-process (WIP) materials in designated locations.
- Communicate material status, production concerns, and unresolved issues to incoming shifts and other departments as needed.
- Follow all safety, quality, production, company, and Human Resources policies and procedures.
- Apply 5S principles to maintain a clean, organized, safe, and efficient work environment and ensure the work area is properly prepared for the incoming shift.
- Follow written and verbal instructions accurately, demonstrating attention to detail and a commitment to established procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience and Knowledge
- Basic knowledge of injection molding processes preferred.
- Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
- Forklift operation experience or certification preferred.

- Self-motivation, reliability, and a positive attitude.
- Basic math and reading skills, including the ability to complete forms, maintain inventory logs, and accurately document material information.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and respond promptly to changing production needs.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for at least eight hours per day.
- Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel as required to perform job duties.
- Ability to lift up to 80 pounds.
- Ability to work weekends and overtime as required.
- Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment while following established safety procedures.
