Assistant Nurse Manager (Operating Room)

The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) will provide support in management, leadership and direction for staff in an area of Surgical Specialties care coordination. Manages staff involved in activities surrounding surgical patient population to provide quality, coordinated care while controlling costs and improving efficiency.

Duties Assists in processes for the recruitment, selection and hiring of high quality staff to our programs. Implements appropriate and safe staff patient ratios and helps determine appropriate staff mix to provide quality care in a cost effective manner. Assures staff utilize processes for evaluations, procurement and cost effective use of supplies and equipment, including coordination with Acquisition & Material Management. Forecasts, briefs and makes recommendations regarding resource needs/issues to the Nurse Managers. Coordinates activities across clinical programs, other product lines and disciplines (e.g., Imaging, Pharmacy, and Pathology). Demonstrates tact, diplomacy, negotiating skills, and a high level of critical thinking to meet the demands of a diverse, dynamic organization. Displays knowledge and ability to effectively assess and address staff performance and conduct. Promotes sound education/staff development programs. Assumes full responsibility in the absence of manager for the unit.
