About the role

Overview

Metalcraft of Mayville is seeking skilled Manual Welders to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for welding and fabricating metal parts and assemblies according to specifications, blueprints, welding symbols, and established quality standards.

Reporting to the Manual Welding Manager, the Manual Welder will perform MIG, TIG, and aluminum welding while ensuring finished products meet quality and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Perform MIG, TIG, and aluminum welding on metal parts and assemblies as required.

  • Follow Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and established weld standards.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, work instructions, and specifications.

  • Set up welding equipment and fixtures using appropriate welding parameters, including amps and volts.

  • Clamp, hold, tack weld, heat bend, grind, or bolt components into the required position for welding.

  • Inspect and measure completed parts to verify conformance with specifications and quality requirements.

  • Use gauges and other measuring tools to complete required operator inspections.

  • Unload completed welded parts and place them in appropriate containers or designated areas.

  • Make basic machine adjustments as needed to maintain quality and production requirements.

  • Perform prescribed preventive maintenance on welding equipment and machinery.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

  • Follow all company, plant, and department safety procedures.

  • Complete production assignments efficiently while maintaining quality standards.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

  • Ability to successfully complete an internal welding test.

  • Previous welding or metal fabrication experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of welding fixtures, setup procedures, and welding parameters such as amps and volts.

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and welding symbols.

  • Basic knowledge of dimensional measuring and the ability to learn precision measuring tools.

  • Basic shop math skills.

  • Basic computer skills and the ability to use computer systems related to the position.

  • Ability to work with various metal-forming and fabrication processes with guidance.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.

  • Ability to follow instructions and complete work accurately and efficiently.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing production needs.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Previous experience operating an overhead crane is preferred.
