About the role

JOB SUMMARY

The Project Engineer is responsible for leading and managing engineering projects within our direct mail printing/manufacturing facility. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement solutions that optimize production processes, improve efficiency, and reduce costs. The Project Engineer will oversee project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring successful project completion and adherence to quality standards.

  • Develops and executes project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinates with cross-functional teams, such as production, maintenance, and quality control, to ensure project alignment with organizational goals.
  • Tracks project progress, identify potential bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Analyzes existing production processes and identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • Designs and implements innovative solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
  • Conducts feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed projects.
  • Evaluates and recommends new equipment and technologies to improve production capabilities.
  • Manages the installation, commissioning, and testing of new equipment.
  • Provides technical support and training to production staff on new equipment and processes.
  • Troubleshoots technical issues and equipment malfunctions, working with maintenance personnel to resolve problems quickly and efficiently.
  • Identifies root causes of problems and implements preventive measures to avoid future issues.
  • Maintains detailed project documentation, including plans, specifications, drawings, and reports.
  • Prepares and presents project updates to management and stakeholders.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as required to ensure the team's success.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing) or a related field.

Work Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in a project engineering or manufacturing engineering role.
  • 3-5 Years in manufacturing - any industry
  • Experience in the printing or direct mail industry preferred.
  • Prior roles in Engineering, Estimating, Scheduling, Quality, or Leadership within manufacturing are beneficial.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency in CAD software and project management tools.
  • Basic Mechanical Systems Design Understanding.
  • Basic Software Systems Design Understanding.
  • Manufacturing experience - pressroom and mailshop preferred
  • Ability to analyze and interpret information from various sources, including complex technical documents and specifications.
  • Experience with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems like SAP or Oracle.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and statistical process control.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive and results-oriented approach to work.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
