About the role

JOB SUMMARY:

This position performs a wide range of housekeeping tasks and projects associated with the cleaning, disinfecting and general upkeep of the physical environment of the assigned facility. Tasks include: sweeping, mopping, dusting, stripping, applying finish, sealing various floor types, spot cleaning and extracting carpet, trash removal and other projects. Responsible for keeping assigned environment dust-free, clean and disinfected. Operation of heavy equipment such as rotary buffers, automatic floor scrubbers, floor burnishers, carpet extractors and other pieces of equipment required.

Also is responsible for record keeping activities to include cleaning tasks performed and the requisitioning and delivering of supplies. Position must maintain equipment in good working order. This position operates independently due to assigned location and hours of operation for performing tasks and is accountable for own time. Position reports operational issues promptly to management for corrections, advice or assistance. Must exhibits the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Cleans all assigned areas throughout the Medical Center in a clean, neat, and sanitary manner.
  2. Operates and maintains departmental equipment in a safe, orderly, and efficient manner.
  3. Completes special projects throughout the Medical Center as assigned by the supervisor.
  4. Assists with the efficient operation of the department and Medical Center.
  5. Demonstrates a commitment to professional accountability and growth to maintain and expand knowledge and skills.
  6. Contributes to the achievement of the mission and philosophy of the Organization.
  7. Contributes to the effective operations of the Organization by demonstrating dependability in job performance.

WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Works in a typical Medical Center environment subject to the hazards associated with such a facility. A flexible working schedule is required including overtime and weekend assignments. Must be able to move or position 50 lbs. independently. Extensive and constant amounts of physical effort required including moving around the unit, moving or positioning heavy equipment, and operation of heavy machinery associated with routine floor care projects. Vision must be good or prescribed glasses worn. Preference for routine, organized activities performed according to predetermined Organization policies. High tolerance for pressure and stress due to task interruption as well as task overload.

CONTACTS WITH OTHERS:

Will contact and interact with nurses, doctors, visitors, patients and all other staff on a routine basis.

EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

Floor scrubbers, floor burnishers, both regular and wet vacuums, C3 machines, and carpet extractors routinely used. Candidate must be knowledgeable in the use of all cleaning products and personal protective equipment. A moderate amount of record keeping is involved and the transporting of requisitioned supplies is required.

Prior floor care experience preferred. Knowledge of floor care equipment preferred.
