License/Certification Requirements: Valid LPN License from the State of Minnesota Board of Nursing; Valid MN Driver’s License, current insurance or be insurable. CPR/BLS certificate or able to obtain within 2 months after hire.
Summary: Responsible for providing medical care to our community members who attend the Wellness Center while also working as a liaison in accessing other services our clients may need.
Education Requirements and Experience:
Current Licensed Practical Nurse licensure or able to obtain licensure within 6 months.
Current clinical experience preferred.
Additional Qualifications and Skills:
Excellent time management, organization, conflict resolution, public relations, and speaking skills are required.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, clients, and other professionals.
Ability to effectively and efficiently communicate, both verbally and in writing, is required.
All licensing renewal requirements as specified by the MN state Board of Nursing or as required by the state they are licensed in, including required CEU’s.
Familiarity with the Leech Lake Reservation and surrounding communities is preferred.
Experience in utilization of Electronic Health Record (EHR) technology or willingness to learn.
Native American preference.
Must meet Health Division hiring guidelines.
Pre-employment drug testing is mandatory for all Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe safety-sensitive positions.
Supervisory Duties:
None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Provide individualized nursing care to patients per scope of Licensed Practical Nurse practice.
Collaborate with other professionals to plan, implement, and evaluate care.
Set up medications and evaluate client’s compliance.
Demonstrates competency and use of Licensed Practical Nurse scope of practice.
Utilizes appropriate age and population standards.
Cares for patients in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment, and follow up as patients move along the continuum of care.
Some wound care.
Administer Vaccinations.
Appropriate, accurate, and complete medical record documentation.
Utilize the Reservation community resources.
Demonstrate awareness of issues relating to nursing practice and health care.
Participate in community education and other professional activities.
Attend and/or conduct all mandatory meetings and trainings as required.
Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics at all times.
Travel in and out of the state on a possibly regular basis.
Understanding and sensitivity to Native American culture.
Adhere to policies governing staff conduct.
All other related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
May be exposed to communicable diseases and/or bloodborne pathogens, including Coronavirus.
May require driving in sub-optimal weather and road conditions.
Subject to internal working conditions.
May require occasional modifications of workstations.
Lifting requirement of at least 25 lbs.
Non-smoking environment at workplace.
