About the role

Position Purpose:

Oversee plant operations including production, engineering, manufacturing and distribution of product. Identify problems and develop plans to improve uses of materials, machines, and employees, including scheduling and supervision. Ensure safety and success in the work environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead a manufacturing operation that exhibits continuous improvement measured by on-time delivery, productivity, safety, quality, and cost containment through the implementation of the Management Operation System (MOS). Responsible for the following functions within the operation: production, materials, and maintenance.
  • Provides leadership to Manufacturing Engineering which identifies and implements cost and throughput improvements to processes, ensures that equipment and processes provide operator safety; provides effective preventative maintenance to building equipment and tooling.
  • Manage, implement and improve systems to streamline and maintain proper shop floor controls including production scheduling, reporting, inventory control and performance measurements.
  • Review production and operating reports to resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays. Identify potential problems and take corrective action.
  • Manage scheduling processes including master scheduling, detail build scheduling, work order releases, material receipt and customer delivery commitment. Provide capacity planning and recommend adjustments. Direct warehouse receiving activities.
  • Maintain a sustainable organization that encourages teamwork, a safety-first attitude, and quality system compliance. Identify areas of succession planning, employee development and provide training. Ensure administration of policies, work rules, and established procedures. Seek input from hourly employees and maintain good employee relations.
  • Prepare, manage, and track annual budget for department. Achieve targeted cost reductions for variable overhead spends.
  • Establish business metrics that track performance to key objectives and targets.
  • Supports the implementation of new products into production. Researches, develops and implements major capital and expense projects. Supervise manufacturing on new product programs utilizing the Product Planning and Development Procedure.
  • Assist the design, procure & validate new equipment and processes for new product programs to enhance reliability and flexibility while promoting lean manufacturing with a flexible, synchronized flow.

Education and Training

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Operations, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, or related area.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of work experience in manufacturing, including previous supervisory and project management work experience.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and other safety regulations is required
  • Strong understanding of production processes, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a proven ability to motivate and develop staff.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritize projects.
  • Ability to use Microsoft applications.
