1s Technical Support New Model Sr. Technician

Purpose of Position: The Senior Technician will contribute to the success of the Paint Department by providing technical expertise and support for paint operations, with a primary focus on robot programming, new model development, process implementation, and troubleshooting.

Essential Job Functions

• Develop, modify, and maintain FANUC robot programs for new model and mass production products.
• Program and optimize robotic paint applications to achieve required coverage, appearance, quality, and process specifications.
• Support the development and implementation of part hangers to ensure proper part presentation and paint coverage.
• Coordinate and support new model development activities within the Paint Department.
• Develop and maintain new model timing plans to ensure required milestones, targets, and launch activities are completed on schedule.
• Troubleshoot and resolve paint process, equipment, robot, spray gun, and bell gun issues.
• Follow all applicable safety requirements, including proper PPE and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Be available to work 2nd or 3rd shift, when required, to support new model programming, trials, launches, and other critical activities.

Experience and Knowledge

• 1–2 years of experience in automotive or industrial paint operations preferred.
• Working knowledge of automotive paint application processes, including CO₂, primer, basecoat, and clearcoat applications.
• Knowledge of 1K and 2K paint systems and application processes.
• Working knowledge of paint mixing and material preparation processes.
• Ability to program robots for new part setup, modifications, and process adjustments.
• Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve common paint process and application issues.
• Basic understanding of paint quality standards, process requirements, and defect identification.
