About the role

Material Master Coordinator – FULL ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Purpose

Create and maintain accurate material master data so planning, purchasing, and storeroom execution work without delays or rework.

Key responsibilities

  • Create new materials and extend materials to plants/storage locations per request.
  • Maintain required master data fields (descriptions, UoM, storage conditions, MRP settings, valuation, etc.).
  • Ensure each material has the correct MRP controller (DISPO) and planning parameters.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, and Storeroom to clarify requirements and prevent duplicates.
  • Perform data quality checks (duplicate prevention, naming standards, critical fields complete).
  • Track requests, meet SLAs, and communicate status and issues.

Core workflows (what you do regularly)

  • Intake requests (ticket/email/form), confirm required details, and clarify gaps.
  • Create/maintain records in the system using the standard work for your site.
  • Validate the record supports downstream processes (MRP, purchasing, receiving, issuing).
  • Route items needing review/approval to the right owner and follow through to closure.

Decision authority

  • Approve master data changes that meet standards and have required business approvals.
  • Reject/return incomplete requests and request missing information.

Service expectations (SLAs)

  • Standard requests: 24–48 hours
  • Critical requests: same day when feasible

Non‑negotiable system rules

  • No purchasing info record = no release (when purchasing is required).
  • All materials must have an assigned MRP controller (DISPO) before release.
