Sr Survivors Assistance Specialist
About the role
Provides compassionate, accurate, and timely support to SSFCU members’ beneficiaries following the death of a member. Serves as the primary point of contact and liaison among beneficiaries, internal departments, government agencies, and insurance providers regarding deceased member accounts. Ensures all activities are completed in compliance with established policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements while safeguarding member confidentiality and beneficiary rights. Assists beneficiaries, family members, and executors/personal representatives for the estate, via telephone, email, and written correspondence by providing guidance, information, and support following a member’s death. Delivers courteous, empathetic, and professional service to all family members of the deceased accountholder while protecting sensitive account information and preventing unauthorized third-party disclosure. Manages deceased member account settlements from initial notification through final resolution, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and proper documentation throughout the process. Independently processes a wide variety of account maintenance, monetary transactions and inquiries in Host in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Serves as a liaison between insurance companies and beneficiaries regarding credit life insurance claims, ensuring timely, accurate, and complete claim processing. Performs additional job-related duties as assigned to support the organization’s Vision, fulfill its Purpose, and uphold its Values.
High school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of five (5) years of experience within a financial institution is required. Specialized experience in trust account rules and regulations is preferred, along with demonstrated familiarity with court documents related to the settlement of deceased accounts. Strong problem-solving skills are required. The candidate must be able to work effectively and thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential, including clear, professional verbal and written communication abilities.
