Regional Director of Talent Advancement
About the role
The Regional Director of Talent Advancement plays a vital role in fulfilling FCA's vision by providing direction in recruiting, hiring, training and development. This position is responsible for equipping regional staff with the competency to build strong staff and volunteer teams, ensuring alignment with FCA's ministry strategy and driving the advancement of its mission. The Regional Director exemplifies FCA's core values--Integrity,
Serving, Teamwork, and Excellence--while fostering unity and organizational alignment across the region.
MINISTERIAL DUTIES
These responsibilities are critical to the FCA mission and this position plays a vital role in our ministry. FCA expects all functions and responsibilities outlined below to be carried out with a heart surrendered to serving God as a form of worship.
- Agree with, and abide by, FCA's Christian Community Statement.
- Follow a spiritual rhythm including daily prayer and Bible study to seek the Lord's will for FCA.
- Lead, conduct and provide spiritual leadership for staff, volunteers, coaches and athletes through prayer, Bible study, worship and living by example so they are equipped to serve others.
- Connect to and participate in a local church through worship and weekly involvement.
- Conduct yourself in a manner that affirms biblical standards of conduct in accordance with FCA's Christian beliefs (see FCA's Christian Community Statement) at all times.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Spiritual Leadership -- Personal Accountability & Growth:
- Pursue Christlike Character - Actively seek to grow in Christlikeness through a personal spiritual growth plan that includes Bible reading, prayer, study, discipleship, and serving.
- Uphold Biblical Integrity - Maintain sound biblical doctrine and ensure personal beliefs and actions align with Scripture.
- Commit to Rest and Renewal - Intentionally utilize the FCA Sabbatical Policy and other rhythms of rest for spiritual, emotional, and physical renewal.
- Engage in Christian Community - Remain actively involved in a local church body through worship, fellowship, giving, and service.
- Practice Spiritual Disciplines - Regularly engage in fasting, prayer, solitude, journaling, and other practices that deepen intimacy with God.
- Seek Godly Counsel - Pursue accountability relationships, mentoring, and spiritual direction to remain faithful in ministry and personal life.
- Live a Witnessed Faith - Demonstrate integrity, humility, and servant leadership in all areas of life, modeling a lifestyle that glorifies Christ.
- Prioritize Family Discipleship - Intentionally lead, nurture, and support one's family in faith and practice as a foundation of spiritual leadership.

Regional Leadership:
- Provide strategic leadership in talent advancement across the region, ensuring alignment with FCA's ministry strategy and mission.
- Ensure staff have recruiting strategies and best practices to effectively implement FCA's recruiting initiatives to attract highly qualified prospects to specific vocational ministry opportunities identified in the vision-based staffing plans.
- Guide hiring managers in applying FCA's onboarding processes and training requirements, ensuring new staff receive a consistent and compliant foundation.
- Train and coach Directors to select candidates for hiring based upon their calling, character, competence, commitment and chemistry.
- Share knowledge and resources to promote organizational training in order to develop the culture, increase capacity and build competence to effectively execute their responsibilities and fulfill their potential.
- Resource and coach Directors to create environments where staff can lead self, lead others, and lead teams and lead organizationally in their current roles with excellence ultimately leading to our teammates feeling valued, inspired and empowered to live out their calling within FCA, growing personally and professionally to become prepared for future opportunities.
Organizational Leadership:
- Collaborate with the Executive Vice President of Talent Advancement (EVP) and other Regional Directors to ensure alignment with FCA's strategic priorities.
- Collaborate with colleagues on monthly calls and project teams to share best practices, test and design new tools, and contribute to continuous improvement across regions.
- Serve as a communication bridge between field staff, regional leadership, and organizational EVP.
- Provide input and feedback to the EVP helping shape organizational direction and resource development.
Financial Stewardship:
- Raise the personal support needed to fund the position through a Home Team consisting of Automatic Monthly Partners (AMP) and Recurring Funding Partners (RFP).
- Submit an annual budget for all expenses assigned by the supervisor.
- Manage and steward the finances for the assigned area of responsibility
COMPETENCIES
- Mature Christian with strong personal spiritual disciplines (prayer, Bible study, discipleship).
- Leadership and team development skills; able to coach, mentor, train, and equip staff and volunteers.
- Strategic leadership; aligns regional recruiting, hiring, training, and development initiatives with FCA's ministry strategy.
- Expertise in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and staff development best practices.
- Program management skills, including planning, implementing, and evaluating talent initiatives.
- Communication and relationship-building with staff, volunteers, and ministry leaders.
- Collaboration across teams; ability to foster unity and organizational alignment.
- Detail-oriented
EXPERIENCE
- 5--10 years of experience in ministry, faith-based organizations, or talent/staff development roles.
- Track record of recruiting, hiring, and developing staff and volunteers.
- Experience managing budgets and raising personal and ministry support.
- Active participation in a local church and demonstrated spiritual maturity.
The Southeast Central Region RDTA position will serve the largest FCA staffed region in the country, growing to over 450 staff, covering 4 states (Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi).
While the position location is not set the applicant could potentially live anywhere within the region and be effective in this role. It would be extremely difficult to serve in this role and raise support living outside the region and it would require additional permission from the Executive Regional Vice President.
