Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Commissioner located in Washinton, DC. Relocation Authorized Position: Relocation expenses will be paid in accordance with the Federal Travel Regulation limits and agency policy. The primary function of this position is to serve as a first-line Supervisory Border Patrol Agent responsible for supervising personnel assigned to support Office of the Commissioner border enforcement, tactical operations, protective security support, personnel security support, readiness, and special operations. This position starts at a salary of $147,899.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $192,275.00 (GS-14, Step 10). Typical duties include: Supervises personnel assigned to support Office of the Commissioner border enforcement, tactical operations, protective security support, personnel security support, readiness, and special operations. Provides senior Border Patrol enforcement and BORTAC advisory support to Office of the Commissioner leadership on complex Border Patrol operations, tactical initiatives, security considerations, and critical border security issues. Reviews operational reports, intelligence products, law enforcement information, personnel security-related information, and field feedback to identify vulnerabilities, operational gaps, access-related concerns, and emerging threats. Supports protective security operations for the Commissioner by overseeing border-focused assessments, route reconnaissance, threat analysis, venue reviews, enforcement support, access control measures, and tactical response options. Identifies training and readiness needs; ensures required qualifications are maintained; and monitors equipment accountability and operational readiness.

You may be returned, at any time, to the position from which temporarily promoted, or to a different position of equivalent grade and pay, and the return is not subject to the procedures found in 5 C.F.R. §§ 351, 432, 752, and 771. If you are currently at the grade level of the position announced, this action will result in a reassignment, and you may be returned at any time to a same or similar position held prior to this temporary assignment. If you currently hold a grade level higher than the grade being announced, this action will result in a change to lower grade, and you may be returned at any time to the position held prior to this temporary assignment or to the same or similar position at the lower grade level.
