Job Title:                    Maintenance Technician

Department:               Maintenance

Reports To:                Maintenance Supervisor

Shift/Schedule:         First Shift; Monday – Friday with occasional Saturdays

SUMMARY OF POSITION 

This is a skilled position that performs preventative maintenance and repairs on buildings, equipment, machinery and grounds.  Work involves primary responsibility for proficiency in several trades, working with conditions and degree of supervision differing according to the location and nature of assignments.  The Technician exercises technical independence in determining work methods and procedures and receives assignments orally and through written instructions.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/COMPETENCIES

  • Ensures facility is kept in good repair and working order.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment. Lubricates production and mechanical equipment parts as specified in established PM manuals and machine maintenance instructions.
  • Performs all kinds of welding, brazing and cutting using gas and electric welding equipment.
  • Maintains, installs, and dismantles various types of piping, fittings and hydraulics.
  • Assists in the maintenance, installation and dismantling of machinery and mechanical service equipment.
  • Follows established policy, rules and regulations, and procedures.
  • Proficient in reading blue prints and electrical schematics
  • Troubleshoots advanced electrical problems and equipment.
  • Program, wire and troubleshoot AC devices.
  • Have working knowledge of Manufacturing Plant power distribution.
  • Hazardous Waste, Radiation and Confined Space Training to be completed after hire.
  • Perform Hazardous Waste Responsibilities: Handling of hazardous waste, moving drums and boxes as needed, labeling drums and boxes as needed, inventory control, respond to spills and emergencies as directed, and signing manifests as needed.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment.
  • Proficient in PLC operations, programming and troubleshooting.
  • Proficient in knowledge of all appropriate codes including electrical and OSHA Regulations.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
