About the role
Job Overview:
The Vice President of Software provides enterprise-level leadership for the strategy, development, delivery, quality, security, and operational performance of the Exacta WES suite of software products for our integrated automation systems.
Reporting to SVP of Solution Delivery, this position is responsible for Software Engineering, Software Architecture, DevOps, Quality Assurance, Product Delivery, and Software Operations functions. The role establishes the technical vision, operating model, governance, and performance standards required to deliver scalable, secure, and innovative software solutions that support business growth, customer success, and organizational objectives.
The Vice President of Software drives alignment between business strategy and technology execution while fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Job Functions:
- Own the performance, scalability, reliability, and quality of the software portfolio, establishing standards and metrics for development productivity, system availability, customer satisfaction, and business outcomes.
- Lead and develop leaders across Software Engineering, Software Architecture, DevOps, Quality Assurance, Product Delivery, and Software Operations; establish clear expectations, coach for results, and ensure succession planning and organizational capability.
- Supports the enterprise software strategy, technology roadmap, and architecture vision aligned with corporate objectives and market opportunities.
- Establish software development governance, operating cadence, KPIs, release management processes, and escalation paths to ensure predictable and high-quality software delivery.
- Direct enterprise resource planning and capacity management across software teams, ensuring effective utilization of talent and alignment with business priorities.
- Accountable for software development budgets, operational expenses, vendor relationships, and technology investment decisions.
- Ensure software security, compliance, and data protection standards are embedded within development and operational processes.
- Partner with Product Management, Operations, Commercial, and Executive Leadership teams to prioritize initiatives and align technology investments with strategic objectives.
- Lead software platform modernization efforts to improve scalability, reliability, maintainability, and customer experience.
- Provide oversight for production software operations, incident management, system reliability, disaster recovery planning, and service continuity.
- Establish and maintain engineering performance metrics, dashboards, and reporting to drive transparency and continuous improvement.
- Champion innovation through emerging technologies, automation, artificial intelligence, and advanced software solutions that enhance business value.
- Serve as the executive escalation point for significant technical, operational, customer, and cross-functional issues.
- Evaluate technology acquisitions, vendor partnerships, and strategic software investments to support long-term organizational growth.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement (Kaizen), collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence across the software organization.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Travel Requirements:
- 25% travel
Required Qualifications and Preferred Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
- 15+ years of progressive experience in related roles.
- Demonstrated ability to consistently deliver secure, scalable, customer-focused software solutions in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Must be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship.
- Employees must follow all information security policies, protect confidential data, complete required training, and report any suspected security incidents to support our information security controls.
