About the role

We are seeking a Director, Process, Training and Governance to lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the management system that supports Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance operations. This leader will be responsible for ensuring compliance activities are executed consistently, documented appropriately, and governed through effective processes and controls. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong business judgment, exceptional communication skills, and a proven ability to influence stakeholders, build consensus, and drive organizational change. This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President, Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance. 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Establish and maintain standardized processes and governance across North America safety, emissions, certification, investigations, recall administration, and other regulatory compliance activities. 
  • Lead the coordination of safety and regulatory compliance training programs, including curriculum development, training material creation, deployment, and achievement of required completion metrics. 
  • Facilitate key technical compliance governance forums, including the Technical Compliance Committee, Vehicle Emission Compliance Steering Committee, and North America Vehicle Emissions & Safety Compliance Initiatives & Improvements Subcommittee and Steering Committee. Responsibilities include agenda development, material preparation, meeting coordination, and documentation of meeting minutes and action items. 
  • Lead the annual cross-functional emissions certification and compliance risk assessment process, including the development, tracking, and execution of associated mitigation and continuous improvement initiatives through completion. 
  • Oversee TSRC Information and Communication Technology (ICT) strategy and prioritization, including management of the TSRC ICT portfolio, budget oversight, system implementation projects, and AI-enabled business transformation initiatives. Serve as Global TSRC AI Hub liaison. 
  • Coordinate global TSRC budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities to support organizational objectives and resource allocation decisions. 
  • Serve as the Global TSRC Compliance Champion, including the management of relationships with Corporate Audit and external auditors to support governance, compliance, and risk management objectives. 
  • Provide project management oversight for regulatory enforcement agreements, including executive-level reporting, governance presentations, milestone tracking, and annual compliance reporting. 

Basic Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field
  • 10+ years of professional experience
  • 7+ years of experience in process management, governance, regulatory compliance, or related discipline
  • Proven leadership experience with a minimum of 5 years managing, coaching, and developing direct reports and high-performing teams
  • Strong project and program management capabilities, with the ability to effectively prioritize competing initiatives and translate complex topics into clear, actionable insights
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, coupled with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
  • Executive communication and presentation skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Copilot, with the ability to leverage technology to enhance productivity, reporting, and decision-making

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline  
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in technical safety and/or regulatory compliance 
  • Experience leading cross-functional programs or strategic initiatives   
  • Experience developing business requirements and managing third-party partners  
  • Knowledge of regulatory, compliance, audit, risk management, and internal control frameworks
