Civil Engineer

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is with the US Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, Engineering and Construction Division, Geotechnical Section located in Galveston, TX.

Serve as Senior Engineer for investigations and design of geotechnical aspects of levees, channels, pumping stations, jetties, dikes, breakwaters and shore protection of major civil projects and other unique geotechnical assignments.

Perform site visits to locate the borings and assess the accessibility of the site.

Prepare contract plans and specifications for assigned projects.

Review instrumentation data for anomalous readings and performs investigations to correct or identify any deficiencies.

Perform peer reviews on work completed by others.

Responsible for observing all safety rules, regulations and directive applicable to the work assignment.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
