Primary Responsibilities:

As a Design Coordinator (Architectural Designer) at HDR you will work on projects in a variety of sectors with a focus on healthcare, higher education, science & technology, sports, aerospace, and data centers.  You’ll be working closely with multi-disciplinary design teams, clients, and contractors throughout the United States. In the role of Design Coordinator (Architectural Designer), we'll count on you to: 

Work collaboratively in all phases of the architectural process and to perform the following: 

  • Concept Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction documentation. 
  • Site and program analysis.
  • Create architectural design diagrams, drawings, renderings, and presentation materials.
  • Coordinate with consultant drawings and models. 
  • Identify and review relevant code/zoning requirements. 
  • Build models using SketchUp, Rhino, Revit, and physical models with mixed media (3D printing, laser cutter, foam, etc).
  • Communicate conflicts/issues and develop solutions with the design team. 
  • Be an active participant in project design discussions and of the Seattle Architecture Studio culture.
  • Perform other duties as needed. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working in a collaborative design environment.
  • LEED Accreditation with experience and/or interest in sustainable design. 
  • Demonstrated graphic presentation skills with knowledge of the following software: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Enscape, Bluebeam, Powerpoint, Word, Excel, Mural, and Miro.
  • Master’s degree in architecture.
  • 1-3 years’ experience of working on similar project typologies.

Note: This Design Coordinator position can be aligned with either our Healthcare, Medical Planning or Mission Critical (Data Center) group. We welcome candidates with experience in either market, and the role is structured to support exceptional architectural talent across a range of backgrounds.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or closely related field
  • Must possess credentials to obtain future registration
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project)
  • Desire to pursue growth opportunities and eventually obtain registration
  • Strong leadership, communication and relationship management skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in use of Autodesk Revit and familiarity with related tools and process
  • Demonstrated graphic presentation skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
