Primary Purpose
Leads professional teams and shapes routine operational plans and procedures for environmental science. Manages performance and labor costs while ensuring adherence to policies, safety and regulatory requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees the development of necessary documents for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and federal and state policies and guidance during project siting, construction, and operations.
  • Leads the team in conducting environmental studies and assessments to evaluate potential impacts from operational activities.
  • Negotiates and administers license and permit applications and response actions to ensure compliance with existing federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Oversees the conducting of environmental risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate potential risks.
  • Formulates the basis for environmental studies in various fields by analyzing and evaluating relevant data.
  • Develops and maintains procedures and programs to assist facilities in complying with environmental laws and regulations.
  • Develops professional and scientific methodology to identify and evaluate environmental or occupational hazards.
  • Performs regular site visits and field walks to validate current conditions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • Required: a 4-year degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Experience

  • Required: 5 years of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Required: Ability to balance scientific integrity, cost, and operational needs.
  • Required: Ability to contribute to functional planning and reporting.
  • Required: Ability to influence peer leaders to align with environmental priorities.
  • Required: Knowledge of functional environmental science programs and regulatory obligations.
  • Required: Knowledge of workforce capability planning within technical disciplines.
  • Required: Skill in evaluating results and driving continuous improvement through others.
  • Required: Skill in managing professionals across multiple environmental initiatives.
