Position Summary
The Payroll Manager oversees the payroll team and payroll systems for Marshall Health Network. This position is responsible for the implementation, development, support, and maintenance of the payroll application and related processes.
The Payroll Manager works closely with Human Resources, HRIS, Finance, and Information Systems to support accurate payroll processing, system functionality, reporting, and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the payroll team and assign responsibilities and duties as needed.
- Oversee payroll systems, processes, and databases.
- Work with HRIS and Finance to ensure payroll information and costs are accurately recorded.
- Collaborate with Information Systems and HRIS on new projects, system upgrades, and process improvements.
- Organize and participate in projects related to payroll and payroll systems.
- Develop custom reports and application workflows as needed.
- Research and resolve employee issues related to payroll applications.
- Communicate changes in payroll procedures and schedules to managers and employees.
- Provide training and support to payroll team members and employees on payroll applications.
- Communicate effectively with employees, managers, and leaders throughout the organization.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting required.
- A degree or additional education in computer programming is beneficial for custom report development.
Experience and Skills
- 10–15 years of experience in electronic payroll processing.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll taxation requirements.
- Knowledge of wage assignments, bankruptcies, child support, and tax levies.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with multiple departments and all levels of the organization.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
- Push or pull light objects weighing less than 20 pounds.
- Write, collate, grasp, and handle objects.
- Operate computers and perform keyboarding tasks.
- Reach, turn, and move throughout the work area.
- Maintain eye-hand coordination while performing computer-related tasks.
- See objects at close range.
- Hear normal sounds in environments with some background noise.
- Perform moderately difficult manipulative tasks.
