About the role
SUMMARY: The Commercial Director will explore and create new sales opportunities for renewable fuels to generate continuously improving netbacks for the company. They will also research biofuels markets to discover market relationships, pricing and logistical understanding leading to the development of competitive marketing advantages. A primary focus of this role is to develop strong and long-lasting relationships that withstand market challenges leading to informational exchanges resulting in competitive pricing advantages.
RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned at management’s discretion.
- Develop, implement, and execute a strategic sales and distribution infrastructure for ISCC-certified and low carbon renewable fuels across domestic and international channels.
- Lead sales of ISCC EU and ISCC PLUS certified product, positioning Seaboard Energy's certified GHG values and full-facility certification as a commercial differentiator.
- Develop and grow the marine fuels channel, including bunkering, inland river, and port-based opportunities, working with vessel operators, bunker suppliers, and marine fuel buyers.
- Identify and open new channels of distribution for Seaboard Energy fuels beyond established road markets, and build the commercial infrastructure required to serve them.
- Review forecast of fuel available for sale and determine amounts to be offered by channel.
- Identify and lead new business opportunities and manage current business relationships by meeting with customers, feedstock suppliers, fuel terminals, port and terminal operators, and rail and marine logistics resources.
- Participate in negotiations, review contracts, and work with Legal re contracts, including chain-of-custody and sustainability declaration obligations attached to certified product.
- Establish an FOB truck delivery program to capture further downstream value of our fuel.
- Determine fuel specifications and requirements specific to end users, including conformance to ISO 8217, EN 14214, and ASTM standards for marine and other specification-driven customers.
- Maintain working knowledge of customer sustainability and certification requirements, and coordinate with Compliance to ensure documentation supports the sale.
- Analyze and verify financial and logistics metrics to verify objectives are being met.
- Resolve potential sales issues by incorporating Operations, Marketing, Compliance, and Logistics feedback and necessary corrective actions.
- Discover and deliver market information regarding the relationships between retailers, jobbers, wholesalers, refiners, bunker suppliers, and marine fuel buyers.

- Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, science or related field preferred.
- 10+ years of marketing and trading experience required
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office products
- Ability to provide feedback to team members in an effort to leverage the balance sheet and appetite to manage risk.
- Must possess a strong desire to embrace change while creatively bringing solutions to complex marketing challenges to gain a competitive market advantage.
- Strong Leadership skills with the ability to develop and manage a team.
- 30% travel required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position is primarily office-based with occasional movement throughout the facility. The role requires extended periods of sitting and frequent use of a computer, including prolonged viewing of a monitor and continuous typing. Employees may need to stand or walk periodically and perform light lifting of materials or office supplies (up to 25 lbs). Occasional bending, reaching, or carrying documents may be required. Adequate visual acuity for reading and data entry, as well as the ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, and in-person interactions, is essential. Employees must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) for their work areas.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday, working hours to be determined. Occasionally extended hours or changes in schedule will be required as special circumstances arise. 30% travel required.
