License/Certification Requirements:  Must be currently an Emergency Medical Technician and be registered with the MN Emergency Medical Service Regulatory Board at the time of application. Must have a valid MN Driver’s License, current insurance or be insurable.

Summary:   To adequately staff the ambulance service with certified Emergency Medical Technicians and to provide 24-hour medical services.

Education Requirements and Experience:

 Must be currently an Emergency Medical Technician and be registered with the MN Emergency Medical Service Regulatory Board at the time of application.

Hold current certification or documentation in a Department of Transportation-approved Emergency Vehicle Operators course or complete within 3 months of hire.

Must complete all advanced life support variances required by the ambulance service protocol within 3 months of hire.

Additional Qualifications and Skills:

 Excellent public relations skills and customer service skills.

Ability to communicate effectively in all forms to management, patients, hospital staff, and other sources.

Ability to work as a team player.

Must be a self-starter and motivated.

Must acquire or have documentation of the Hepatitis B Vaccination series.

Must acquire or have documentation of a Mantoux test (current).

Must have professional attributes, i.e., appearance, attitude, personal hygiene.

Excellent attendance and punctuality are a must.

Good oral and written communication skills and customer service skills.

Pre-employment drug testing is mandatory for all safety-sensitive positions with the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe.

Supervisory Duties:

 None

Duties/Responsibilities:

 Adhere to ambulance policies, procedures, standing orders, and protocols.

Adhere to policies governing staff conduct.

Work a minimum of four (4) scheduled shifts per month at part-time status or 32 hours per week minimum full-time status.

Attend all scheduled and unscheduled in-service sessions and staff meetings.

Complete all necessary and mandatory training in a timely manner.

Must wear uniform and dress appropriately for extreme weather.

Responsible for: maintaining the ambulance unit’s cleanliness and restocking of equipment.

Responsible for: maintaining work/office space as assigned.

Responsible for completing a vehicle check for each scheduled shift.

Responsible for completing documentation for all ambulance calls.

Responsible for gathering insurance information and HIPAA privacy information on each patient.

Represent the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, Health Division and Ambulance Service in a positive and professional manner.

Submit to alcohol/drug testing.

Attend and/or conduct all mandatory meetings and trainings as required.

Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics at all times.

Ability to travel: in and out of the state on a possibly regular basis.

Understanding and sensitivity to Native American culture.

Other related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

 Must be in good physical condition.

Must have good color vision and eyesight (corrective lenses acceptable).

Must be in good mental health.

Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 100 lbs.

Must be able to work in high-stress conditions.
