Primary Purpose
Leads defined government relations initiatives and translates complex policy developments into business‑relevant insights. The role applies advanced analytical, writing, and stakeholder skills to shape engagement strategies, develop advocacy materials, and guide internal partners on policy implications.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Builds strategic relationships with key local government officials. Engages in targeted outreach to build rapport and align organizational goals with community needs.
- Contributes to the development of reports for corporate leadership as well as briefing notes for management to outline issues that may impact the organization’s operations and project developments.
- Drafts sections of position statements and briefing notes; collaborates with internal teams to ensure content accuracy and relevance; participates in feedback and revision processes.
- Drafts report sections and compiles contributions from various teams. Ensures understanding of report requirements and verifies data for accuracy and completeness.
- Manages logistical aspects of forum organization such as venue selection, invitations, and scheduling; attends forums and observes the interaction and discussion, occasionally participating.
- Supports and facilitates flow of information to internal stakeholders relying on Government Affairs office for pertinent information related to strategic initiatives, agency actions, and legislative proposals.
- Assists with the transcription of legislative committee hearings and takes part in meetings of the governmental affairs team.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
- Required: a 4 year degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Experience
- Required: 5 years of related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Required: Ability to independently assess legislative or regulatory risks and opportunities.
- Required: Ability to influence outcomes through credible analysis and relationships.
- Required: Ability to manage defined government relations initiatives or issue areas.
- Required: In-depth knowledge of government relations practices and public policy analysis.
- Required: Knowledge of stakeholder mapping and advocacy techniques.
- Required: Skill in communicating complex policy information clearly and persuasively.
- Required: Skill in developing position analyses and recommendations.
