Data Scientist / Analyst

Responsibilities

Peraton seeks a Data Scientist / Analyst to support Department of War Cyber Defense Command (DCDC) with defensive cyberspace operations and AI support. Location: Fort Meade, MD.  In this role, you will perform advanced statistical analysis, develop machine learning (ML) models, and conduct operational research to support cyber defense decision-making and threat characterization.

Location: Fort Meade, MD.  In this role, conduct data analysis, develop analytical models, and create visualizations to support DCDC mission requirements and cyber defense operations.

 Primary Responsibilities: 

• Perform exploratory and diagnostic analyses to reveal trends and anomalies
• Develop and test ML models for threat detection and risk scoring
• Create data visualizations and analytical reports
• Support data preparation, transformation, and quality assurance
• Collaborate with data engineers on model operationalization
• Document analytical methods and findings

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with Ph.D. Will consider Associates degree and 10 years of experience or HS and 12 years of experience.
• Advanced proficiency in Python, R, SQL
• Experience with machine learning model development and deployment; experience with machine learning, algorithm analysis, and data clustering.
• Strong statistical analysis and hypothesis testing skills
• Experience with data visualization and reporting
• Requires strong technical and computational skills - engineering, physics, mathematics, coupled with the ability to code design, develop, and deploy sophisticated applications using advanced unstructured and semi-structured data analysis techniques and utilizing high-performance computing environments
• U.S. Citizenship required
• DoD TS Clearance with ability to obtain/maintain SCI

 Preferred Qualifications:

• AWS/Azure certifications
• Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field
• Knowledge of cyber defense operations
• DoD TS SCI Clearance

Target Salary Range

$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
