About the role
The Line Specialist will be responsible for taking a leadership role in maintaining and improving the performance of one manufacturing Line & related/supporting equipment throughout the line, including, but not limited to the Blow Molder, Depalletizer, Filler, Seamer, Labeler, Packer, Full Case Conveyors, and Pallet conveyors, and Palletizer.
Position operates one or multiple pieces of manufacturing equipment. This may include moving raw material handling to the production line, and/or filling, capping, sealing, labeling or packaging product. Removes damaged products or supplies, as needed. Position responsible for production, package, and flavor changeovers. Maintains required product inspection processes. Performs basic troubleshooting and minor repairs to ensure production equipment runs efficiently.
Position requires lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling cases weighing 20-45 pounds per case repeatedly over a long work period. This position requires walking or standing most of the time during the shift and may include stooping, crawling and crouching over and under conveyors. Position may be required to work weekends and/or holidays.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Become the plant expert on the overall operation and performance of the manufacturing line, including ongoing operation and changeovers.
- Function as trainer, coach, and mentor to employees operating equipment on all can lines across all shifts.
- Troubleshoot Line issues (minor stops, defects, breakdowns) impairing Line's ability to meet Targeted TE goals and work with Line Owners/Supervisors to develop and implement corrective action plans to resolve ongoing issues.
- Provide Leadership to the Line machine centers in an effort to continually improve overall performance capabilities and partner with Vendors/Suppliers, plant Maintenance and Operations.
- Review Line CIL standards, Centerline standards and compliance on a daily basis. Work with line owner to develop action plans to immediately address gaps
- Review and revise present SOPs (Safety, Operation, Quality, Sanitation) as needed.
Assist Operators in changeover and emergency repairs as needed. - Work as an RCO (rapid changeover) resource to improve on time to complete Line changeovers
- Attend daily Solve by Sundown and weekly Line Owner Review meetings, and communicate downtime issues along with corrective action.
- Collaborate with the Line Owner and 2-2-3 supervisors to complete SRC analysis and action completion
- Work with Maintenance to identify and audit equipment spare parts requirements; including completion of work orders & PMs
- Assist Maintenance with repairs, preventative maintenance, and Down Day Event Support.
Other responsibilities that may result from a business need, including providing equipment/line coverage related to the role. - Perform all primary accountabilities from the Machine Operator role
Basic Functions: (Duties may be varied from time to time for effective plant operations.)

- Maintain accurate and legible production records when needed
- Abide by the safety regulations and wear all necessary and required PPE.
- Maintain a clean workplace free from debris and foreign objects while working in area
- Strong oral and written communication, analytical and mechanical skills.
- Ability to learn and comprehend technical information.
- Ability to function as a trainer and give presentations to a group.
- Excellent trouble shooting and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work with people at all levels and in various functions.
- Self directed with ability to work from period objectives.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
* 18 years or older
* Pass the drug test; Pass the background check
* Previous experience as a Machine Operator
HELPFUL EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with high speed production lines (e.g., high output, high performance equipment, fast paced production environment, etc.)
- Experience with pallets (e.g., operating a forklift, stacking/bundling product, etc.)
- Experience operating a packing machine (e.g., stacking, bundling, and wrapping product, etc.)
- Experience operating a filler machine (e.g., ensuring right mix of product, operating production computer, etc.)
- Experience operating a palletizer (e.g., building pallets, managing product changeovers, etc.)
- Experience reading blueprints (e.g., read schematics on a machine, understanding production product flow, etc.)
- Experience reading schedules (e.g., products being produced, understanding production requirements, production planning, managing changeovers, etc.)
- Experience with computers in a manufacturing setting (e.g., electronic settings, line speed, pressures, basic troubleshooting, solving for faults/alarms and resetting equipment, etc.)
- Experience with sanitization (e.g., basic procedures/steps, GOOD MANUFACTURING PRACTICES in a food plant, identifying risks)
- Experience with minor mechanical repairs (e.g., jams, using tools, making basic adjustments to equipment, etc.)
- Experience with preventative maintenance (e.g., inspecting and maintaining equipment, detecting and correcting issues before they occur, etc.)
