About the role

The Director, Global Payroll is responsible for leading Conair's global payroll function, establishing the strategy, governance framework, operating standards, and technology roadmap that ensure accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll operations worldwide.

This role has accountability for US payroll operations as well as the oversight and governance of payroll activities across all global regions. While payroll processing remains locally administered, the Director is responsible for establishing global standards, controls, reporting, compliance oversight, and performance management across payroll functions and external payroll providers.

The Director will lead the organization's transition toward a centralized global payroll ecosystem, including the implementation of global payroll technology, development of consolidated payroll reporting, and creation of enterprise-wide payroll governance practices. This role partners extensively with regional payroll teams, Finance, HR, Tax, Legal, and Internal Audit to provide visibility into payroll costs, workforce expenditures, compliance risks, and operational performance globally.

The role contributes directly to Total Rewards and HR operational strategy and serves as the enterprise leader for global payroll transformation, compliance, governance, and analytics

Global Payroll Leadership & Governance

  • Develop and execute Conair's global payroll strategy, operating model, and governance framework.
  • Establish payroll policies, controls, compliance standards, and service delivery expectations across all regions.
  • Provide leadership and direction to local payroll managers/ regional payroll teams, and external payroll service providers.
  • Monitor payroll performance globally and ensure effective risk management, compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Evaluate organizational capabilities and recommend process, structure, and technology improvements.

Payroll Transformation & Technology Strategy

  • Lead the development and execution of a multi-year payroll transformation roadmap.
  • Spearhead implementation and optimization of centralized global payroll technology platforms and reporting solutions.
  • Partner with HRIS, Finance, IT, and third-party providers to streamline payroll processes and improve data integration.
  • Identify opportunities to standardize payroll practices, improve efficiency, and enhance employee experience.
  • Oversee major payroll projects, system upgrades, acquisitions integrations, and organizational change initiatives.

Global Compliance & Risk Management

  • Establish enterprise payroll controls and governance practices to ensure compliance with applicable payroll, wage and hour, tax, and statutory requirements.
  • Partner with regional payroll and HR leaders to monitor regulatory changes and ensure local compliance.
  • Direct payroll audit activities and manage remediation of identified risks and control gaps.
  • Ensure payroll processes support internal control requirements, external audits, and regulatory obligations.
  • Develop and maintain payroll-related policies and procedures.

Payroll Reporting, Analytics & Financial Oversight

  • Establish and oversee a centralized global payroll reporting function.
  • Partner with Finance to support workforce planning, headcount reporting, payroll accruals, forecasting, and budgeting processes.
  • Provide oversight of global payroll expenditures, controls, reconciliations, and reporting accuracy.
  • Deliver insights and recommendations that support informed business decisions and cost management initiatives.

Stakeholder Management & Strategic Partnership

  • Act as the company's senior payroll subject matter expert and trusted advisor to HR, Finance, Tax, Legal, and business leadership.
  • Lead relationships with global payroll vendors, consultants, and service providers.
  • Influence cross-functional stakeholders in the development of payroll strategy, governance, and operational priorities.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Serve as global payroll SME for local payroll managers and/or regional payroll team.
  • Establish global payroll function goals, priorities, and resource plans.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, operational excellence, and customer service.
  • Develop organizational capability through coaching, mentoring, and succession planning.
