Safety Specialist I
Position Description
The main objective of this position is to ensure compliance with all the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (DOT/FMSCR). The Safety Specialist shall have the authority in writing to implement and enforce all company fleet safety policies and standards.
Responsibilities:
- Audit and maintain DOT driver qualification files.
- Ensure driver compliance Hours of Service Regulations.
- Educate drivers on electronic logging device and proper usage, including correcting errors and omissions from the E-Log System.
- FMCSA regulations and CSA requirements and compliance.
- Implement all Fleet Safety Policies and Procedures as directed by the Safety Manager and or Director.
- Strong Presentation skills in group environments.
- Quick thinking and ability to multitask in demanding environment.
- Analyze critical event data and report to company leadership.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge and understanding of DOT Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations preferred.
- Able to work varying days/hours as needed.
- Computer skills required- PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Word.
- Ability to work in cross functional teams.
- Attention to detail is a must.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
