About the role

JOB SUMMARY:

Under limited supervision, insures the maintenance and repairs of all major equipment and back up systems for EMRMC.  Provides training and orientation to department staff as requested. Coordinates and is responsible for providing and maintaining an accurate and up to date preventative maintenance program. Oversees day to day operations of all equipment and scheduled as well as unscheduled repairs. Maintain Purchase Orders and inventory orders for the department. Plans, prioritizes, assigns, supervises, and reviews the work of staff responsible for the performance of a wide variety of plant operations functions. Is responsible for quality and safety standards. Follows federal, state, and local regulations. Provides a variety of tasks relating to safety/security for the Hospital. Assists in the administration and directing program to ensure that the Hospital is maintained in a safe/secure manner. Exhibits the values of F.I.R.S.T. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coordinates development of maintenance processes for the preventative maintenance program for EMH equipment.
  2. Coordinates development of maintenance equipment work tasks to allow for scheduling timely completion of preventative maintenance work assignments. 
  3. Coordinates training and orientation for department staff to assist in maintaining staff’s competency. 
  4. Contributes to the effective overall management of the department.
  5. Assists with Purchase Order tracking and inventory control.
  6. Ensures that all scheduled or unscheduled work on major hospital equipment is completed timely and in accordance with EMRMC and departmental policies and objectives.
  7. Demonstrates a commitment to professional accountability and growth to maintain and expand knowledge and skills.
  8. Contributes to the achievement of the mission and philosophy of the Organization. 
  9. Contributes to the effective operations of the Organization by demonstrating dependability in job performance. 
  10. Maintains all tools and equipment properly and according to department standards.
  11. Knowledge of Fire system and the installation of devices,
  12. Knowledge of all main utility shut off valves.
  13. Knowledge of distribution of utilities.
  14. Understanding Failure/Alternative utility procedures.
  15. Contributes to the efficient operation of the department.
  16. Assists with maintaining budget and fiscal departmental expenses.
  17. Coordinates work flow for the department to ensure timely completion of      work assignments.
  18. Receives and responds to after hours emergency calls for plant  operations services; determines appropriate action to be taken and assigns staff accordingly.
  19. Attends and participates in professional group meetings; maintains of new trends and developments in the field of plant operations; incorporates as appropriate into programs.
  20. Participates in selection of plant operation staff; provides or Coordinates staff training.
  21. Will be in charge of Boiler Room operations as well as preventative maintenance in Mechanical rooms and Penthouses. 
  22. Knowledge of Medical Gas systems and appropriate procedure for emergency conditions.
  23. Managing Staff work load and Directing resources needed for improvements and repairs of facilities systems.
  24. Will be responsible for working with contractors and vendor resources to maintain timely and complete projects, scheduling shutdowns, and communicating with departments that may be affected.
  25. Perform other related duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Normal work assignments will not require exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, but employment may require performing supplemental tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues.  Is at risk of injury by electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and construction equipment and supplies that are worked on as part of routine work.  Will be working with some chemicals, and is subject to high levels of stress caused by emergency situations, will be expected to lift, bend, stoop, push, and move equipment.  Must be able to lift 50 lbs. independently.    

CONTACTS WITH OTHERS:

Will be in contact with all levels of management, clinical personnel, professional staff, ancillary staff, contractors, engineers, as well as patients and visitors. 

EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

Will be expected to coordinate and train Associates in all areas of work performed by the department when requested.

Minimum of Ten (10) years experience of repairing and maintaining Mechanical/Electrical equipment.
