- Primary Function:
Under leadership/direction perform a range of functions concerning the material handling of mandrels of ERH material. Will remove green, wrapped mandrels to train and retrieve vulcanized mandrels for staging at AGV locations. Fill in for Material Handling Coordinator when he’s not available.
- Duties and Responsibilities:
- Load vulcanizer carts with green, wrapped mandrels using bridge crane.
- Unload vulcanized mandrels from cart using bridge crane.
- Stage vulcanized mandrels at AGV pick up/drop off locations.
- Operate AGVS transterms.
- Properly identify vulcanized materials.
- Spiral wrap green mandrels and remove the gantry/bridge crane.
- Keep like products together in AGVS.
- Communicate with others, as necessary.
- Maintain proper housekeeping and safety precautions.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Essential Full Performance Knowledge:
- Required knowledge includes, but is not limited to, operation of bridge crane and gantry crane, bar code system, AGV system, spiral wrapper and wrapping techniques, minor maintenance of equipment, safety systems and housekeeping.
- Essential Full Performance Skills:
- Reading – barcode/AGV system prompts, cure tickets, etc.
- Data entry in the AGV system transterms.
- Communication – able to give and receive instructions, participate in group problem solving.
- Operation of spiral wrapper.
- Operation of bridge crane.
- Operation of gantry crane.

- Education & Experience Requirements:
- Education: High School diploma
Equivalency: GED
- Experience: 3 to 12 months holding a chair for this position as defined in the Seniority System Handbook.

- Work Environment: Activities occur inside a rubber manufacturing facility. Job conditions include but are not limited to exposure to the following.
- Potential for temperature exceeding 100°F during the summer.
- Airborne mica dust.

- Pinch hazard from moving parts.
- Possible burns from hot mandrels just out of the vulcanizers (270°)
- Confined spaces when loading and unloading cure carts.

- Major electrical current associated with bridge crane power ways.

- Typically, 40 hours per week with overtime required as production ticket dictates.

- 3 shift operation required (10:30 PM to 7:00 AM; 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM; 3:30 PM to 10:30 PM).
- Physical Requirements:
- Climbing – may occasionally need to climb on cure cart for various reasons.
- Stooping – stoop to get building ticket out of mandrel wrap.
- Reaching – to assist in putting mandrel in cart.
- Standing – stands for vast majority of shift.
- Walking – walk from spiral wrappers to train back to spiral wrappers most of the day using the bridge crane.
- Pushing – push mandrel into place.
- Pulling – pull mandrel to rotate it proper orientation. Lifting – occasional lift of spiral wrap (> 100 pounds).
- Fingering – push buttons on control pendant of bridge crane and gantry crane most of the day.
- Grasping – grasp mandrel before rotating; grasp control pendant.
- Feeling – feel temperature of vulcanized rubber/hot mandrels.
- Talking – must communicate with other members of the plant. Participate in group problem solving discussions.

- Repetitive motion – a lot of repeated finger movements to control pendant for bridge and gantry cranes.
- Seeing – see hazards, warnings, SDS’s, etc.
Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
