We're seeking an experienced Sr. Claims Specialist (Specialty Risk) to join our team and handle complex liability and bodily injury claims while serving as a strategic advisor to our insured partners.

This role is ideal for a seasoned claims professional who excels at investigation, negotiation, relationship management, and achieving effective claim resolutions in a collaborative environment.

What You'll Do

Manage Complex Liability Claims

• Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve liability and bodily injury claims.
• Develop and execute strategic action plans to move claims efficiently toward resolution.
• Establish and maintain appropriate claim reserves throughout the life of a claim.
• Review investigative findings, medical information, and developing claim facts to determine exposure and settlement opportunities.
• Ensure all claim handling activities comply with company standards and fair claims practices.

Partner with Insureds

• Serve as a trusted advisor to insured partners throughout the claims process.
• Conduct regular claim strategy meetings and provide ongoing communication regarding claim developments and potential outcomes.
• Educate insureds on claim handling best practices, reserve development, and settlement strategies.
• Build strong, long-term relationships while balancing customer service with sound claims management.

Drive Effective Outcomes

• Collaborate with defense counsel, independent adjusters, and other claims professionals to advance claims toward resolution.
• Coordinate investigations, witness development, and litigation management activities.
• Identify subrogation opportunities and coordinate with internal stakeholders as appropriate.
• Work closely with underwriting and safety teams to report emerging risks and claim trends.
• Attend mediations, hearings, trials, and settlement conferences when necessary.

Continue Developing Your Expertise

• Maintain current knowledge of negligence laws, medical terminology, and industry trends.
• Obtain and maintain required state adjuster licenses.
• Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Strong knowledge of liability claims investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement practices.
• Ability to build credibility and influence insureds through effective communication and relationship management.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and documentation skills.
• Commitment to integrity, confidentiality, and exceptional customer service.

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of liability claims experience.
• Experience working within a Captive, Third-Party Administrator (TPA), or specialty risk environment.
• Litigation management experience, including coordination with defense counsel.
• Proven success handling complex bodily injury claims and negotiating favorable claim resolutions.
