Job Summary (outline in one to three sentences the overall responsibilities of the role):  

Specialist III, Motorsports Strategy & Planning supports the development and execution of Yamaha Motorsports’ strategic direction, translating corporate objectives into actionable mid-term (MTP) and long-term (LTP) business plans. This position translates complex internal and external information into actionable recommendations, scenarios, and executive-level decision-support materials. Working cross-functionally with Product Planning, Business Management, Finance, Sales, Marketing, and global stakeholders, the role supports MTP/LTP development, strategic performance monitoring, and the evaluation of growth opportunities and business risks.

Strategic Planning: Support the development of Motorsports mid- and long-term business strategies, including environmental assessment, strategic issue identification, scenario development, and evaluation of alternative strategic pathways.

Market, Customer, and Competitive Intelligence: Integrate market trends, customer research, competitive activity, industry developments, dealer insights, and internal business data to identify opportunities, risks, unmet customer needs, and implications for Motorsports strategy.

Business Forecasting and Strategic Modeling: Develop long-term market, segment, and product-category forecasts using historical performance, market indicators, customer trends, competitive assumptions, and alternative business scenarios. Partner with Product Planning and Business Management to align strategic market outlooks with model and business-planning assumptions.

Executive Decision Support: Prepare executive-level presentations, briefing materials, and business review documents that support leadership decision-making and executive planning cycles.

Strategic Analysis & Insights: Consolidate market intelligence, financial data, and competitive insights into clear, actionable strategic recommendations for senior leadership. 

P – 10% 

Cross-Functional Planning Leadership: Coordinate the strategic planning calendar and cross-functional planning cycles, ensuring timely inputs, reviews, approvals, and follow-up on action items. 

P – 5% 

Business Partnership & Alignment: Partner with Business Management, Product Planning, Finance, Sales, and Marketing to align plans, gather planning inputs, and translate strategy into actionable priorities. 

S – 5% 

Planning Tools & Process Improvement: Develop planning tools, templates, and dashboards that improve the quality, consistency, and efficiency of the strategic planning process. 

S – 5% 

Special Projects & Strategic Initiatives: Lead or support special projects, business-case development, and ad-hoc analysis for senior leadership as strategic priorities evolve. 

S – 3%

Minimum Qualifications: (List minimum experience, education, work experience and/or certifications required to perform the role first, followed by preferred qualifications) 

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Marketing, or a related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred. 
• 5–7 years of progressive experience in strategy, business planning, financial planning & analysis, business intelligence, or a related analytical function, preferably within powersports, automotive, or consumer-durable industries. Demonstrated experience supporting mid- and long-term planning cycles and preparing executive-level materials. 

• Demonstrated experience integrating quantitative and qualitative information into strategic recommendations and executive-level materials  
• Preferred Experience in motorsports (ATV/SxS/MCY/SMB); exposure to international or cross-cultural business coordination; and prior project-management or people-leadership experience. 

Competencies/ Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: (Attributes required to perform the job adequately, i.e. SAP knowledge, outstanding written and oral communication skills, ability to operate forklift, etc.) 

• Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.  

• Ability to translate market, customer, competitive, operational, and financial information into clear strategic implications  

• Experience with market sizing, forecasting, scenario planning, business-case development, and strategic performance measurement  

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel; experience with business intelligence and data-visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) preferred.  

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to build executive-level presentations and briefing materials. 

• Demonstrated experience partnering with senior business leaders and influencing strategic direction 

• Strong project-coordination and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.  
• Proven ability to challenge assumptions constructively, influence cross-functional decisions, and operate effectively in a matrixed organization. 
• Strong executive communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills. 

• Genuine interest in power sports and Yamaha customers preferred  

Decision-Making Responsibility / Organizational Scope 
Operates with moderate autonomy under the direction of the Senior Manager, Strategy & Business Intelligence, managing defined planning processes, coordinating planning cycles, and preparing recommendations for leadership review. Exercises independent judgment in analysis, planning coordination, and material preparation; strategic direction, major assumptions, and final plans are recommended to and approved by senior leadership. May lead project teams or coordinate the work of analysts on a project basis.
