Landscaping Services, Inc. (LSI) is seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and operations-focused professional to join our growing Nashville, Tennessee, business as an Assistant Branch Manager.

The Opportunity
Growth creates opportunity! We are seeking an A-Player to help lead our vibrant Nashville business as part of a progressive horticultural organization with national reach.
The Assistant Branch Manager works closely with the Branch Manager to lead daily branch operations, develop team members, strengthen client relationships, and support the branch’s financial and operational performance. This position provides direct leadership to Account Managers and works collaboratively with production, installation, irrigation, turf, administrative, and sales teams.
As Assistant Branch Manager, you will:
Lead and Develop Account Managers
- Provide leadership, direction, and ongoing coaching to the Account Management team.
- Coach Account Managers on sales techniques, customer service, account management, and relationship-building.
- Attend client meetings with Account Managers when additional leadership or support is needed.
- Help Account Managers manage challenging client situations and support account-retention efforts.
- Promote a culture of client appreciation, including consistent and meaningful follow-up and thank-you communications.
- Guide the contract-renewal process to help ensure accounts remain profitable and service expectations are met.
- Review and approve client presentations, proposals, and landscape designs submitted by the team.
- Maintain regular communication with key and high-profile accounts, including scheduled monthly check-ins when appropriate.
Support Branch Operations
- Help lead daily branch operations and maintain accountability across teams.
- Participate in employee hiring, performance management, corrective action, and termination decisions in partnership with the Branch Manager and Human Resources.
- Review employee evaluations with operational leaders and assist in making compensation recommendations.
- Maintain direct communication with the installation, irrigation, in-house turf, and other operational teams.
- Establish and communicate work priorities with installation and irrigation leaders based on client and branch needs.
- Meet regularly with supervisors to gather feedback, identify resource needs, and address operational challenges.
- Provide operational feedback to the sales team to support accurate proposals, effective job planning, and successful service delivery.
- Promote collaboration, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement throughout the branch.
Support Subcontractor Relationships
- Assist with developing subcontractor agreements, expectations, and scopes of work.
- Participate in meetings and ongoing communication with subcontractors.
- Evaluate Account Manager and branch needs when determining appropriate subcontractor resources.
- Directly manage multiple subcontractor relationships, including mulch, pine straw, turf, and other specialized services.
- Monitor subcontractor quality, scheduling, performance, and compliance with company expectations.
Support Financial Performance
- Develop a strong working knowledge of branch profit-and-loss reports, budgets, goals, expenses, overhead, and labor costs.
- Use financial and operational information to support sound business decisions.
- Monitor account and contract profitability and help identify opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain a thorough working knowledge of Aspire and other applicable business systems.
- Review and understand end-of-month reports and key branch performance indicators.
- Help manage labor, operational expenses, and resources in alignment with established branch goals.
- Provide direction and support to administrative staff as needed.
- Partner with the Branch Manager to achieve revenue, profitability, retention, and operational-performance goals.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a collaborative, hands-on leader with the following qualifications:
- Three or more years of relevant leadership or management experience in commercial landscaping, grounds maintenance, or a similar service-based industry.
- Experience leading Account Managers, production teams, supervisors, or multiple operational work groups.
- Demonstrated ability to coach employees in sales, customer service, account management, and operational execution.
- Working knowledge of budgeting, labor management, job costing, contract profitability, and profit-and-loss reporting.
- Experience with Aspire or a comparable landscape or field-service management system is strongly preferred.
- Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating work across multiple service teams.
- Proven ability to motivate, mentor, and develop high-performing employees.
- Ability to make sound judgments, solve problems, establish priorities, and maintain careful attention to detail.
- Strong client-service, interpersonal communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to balance client needs, employee needs, operational demands, and financial goals.
- Capacity to work independently while collaborating effectively with the Branch Manager and other company leaders.
