TITLE:                        Training Assistant

STATUS:                    Hourly

LOCATION:                Kingman

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists in the development and updating of visual aids for classroom and manufacturing floor use.
  • Assists in the development and revision of Standard Work Documents as needed.
  • Facilitates technical training for new and existing employees, including door, dummy front and frame training
  • Records and maintains training results and reports.
  • Participates with Human Resources and Training in determining the employee has been sufficiently trained and provide documentation of such per training guidelines.
  • Perform administrative and clerical tasks as appropriate for the Human Resources team.
  • Serves as liaison for lean initiatives and provides assistance to Human Resources team with special events, etc
  • All other duties as assigned by HR Management staff.

Primary Purpose:

Assist in the administration of the plant environmental, health, and safety policies to help ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and to meet or exceed established goals.

Essential Functions:

  1. Assist in the training of plant safety practices, and document as directed, to help create a safe working environment.
  2. File Worker’s Compensation claims as needed and maintain document files.
  3. Accompany employees on initial physicians visits and/or drug screens as needed. On occasion, attend follow-up visits as well.
  4. Work with Safety Manager on various projects and initiatives.
  5. Assist in conducting ongoing safety inspections and audits of facilities, operations, and equipment to ensure a safe working environment for all AWC employees.
  6. Assist in the maintenance of SDS Programs.
  7. Actively participate on assigned teams and/or projects.
  8. Role model CITE and Working in Teams principles.
  9. Perform other tasks as directed by Safety Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position typically has no direct supervision responsibilities, but will assist others in ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required.

Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Experience in Occupational Safety & Health, Safety Engineering or related discipline preferred.
  • Safety Team Experience strongly preferred
  • 0 to 2 years experience; manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Good personal computer skills; Microsoft products experience preferred - Outlook-Word-Excel-PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality and demonstrate understanding of PHI.
  • Must have experience in working in a team environment, to meet/exceed goals.
  • Strong planning/organization & time management skills.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • CPR and First Aid strongly preferred

Communications Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common business and technical journals and financial reports.  Ability to listen and communicate effectively with customers/clients in an effort to respond to common inquires or complaints from customers/clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community and public.  Ability to develop presentations to be delivered to production team, plant level team, or public groups.

QUALIFICATIONS:

                Education, Experience and Skills:

  • a high school diploma or general equivalency degree (GED) is preferred.
  • good written and oral communication skills.
  • Must have and maintain valid Arizona drivers license

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common business documents such as pallet tickets, manufacturing schedules, or job orders.  Ability to listen and communicate effectively with co-workers and customers/clients in an effort to respond to common inquires or complaints.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to such tasks as inventory control, production tracking, material ordering, and job order verification.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an assorted number of tasks or instructions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, kneel, bend, twist, and walk.  The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is required to speak and communicate with other employees, be able to hear well enough to recognize warning signals, forklifts, and announcements.  Employee must be able to see different characteristics in wood products.  The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Indoor manufacturing environment.  The noise level is usually moderate to high and hearing protection may be required.  Safety glasses are required and work gloves are recommended.  Occasional overtime and weekend work required.
