About the role

Note: This is a full-time ACC AmeriCorps position with Community Resource EnVision Center.

About the American Connection Corps:

The American Connection Corps (ACC), an AmeriCorps program of Lead For America (LFA), is a service fellowship program aimed at helping communities build the digital connectivity necessary to expand opportunity and economic mobility, ranging from healthcare access to quality employment.

ACC Members serve with locally-rooted organizations, helping address the digital divide and strengthen access to opportunity. Through their service, they gain hands-on experience, build in-demand skills, and explore career pathways while making a tangible impact in their communities.

About Community Resource EnVision Center

The Community Resource EnVision Center is a nonprofit hub that serves as a single point of entry for residents of Bonner and Boundary Counties seeking assistance. Formerly known as the Sandpoint Community Resource Center, it is a HUD-designated "EnVision Center," meaning it focuses on a holistic approach to helping people achieve long-term self-sufficiency rather than just providing one-time emergency aid.

Position Overview

The ACC Member will provide direct digital navigation support to community members in mastering essential technology, including mobile devices, laptops, and internet navigation. By assisting with the development and facilitation of targeted digital literacy workshops, the Member will help seniors access telehealth, assist job seekers with online employment tools, and guide low-income families in navigating educational resources. They will also assist eligible clients with navigating the application process for the federal Lifeline program to help them access affordable home internet and phone services.

To support long-term community impact, the Member will assist staff with capacity-building activities, including developing training modules that empower staff and volunteers at local partner organizations to meet the evolving digital needs of residents. Additionally, the Member will support staff in developing and implementing a user-friendly digital resource portal and an integrated client database. This infrastructure will help improve service access, support data-informed outreach, and strengthen the sustainability of services beyond the service year.

Furthermore, the Member will provide basic technology assistance to community members, including guidance on device setup, software installations, account creation, and network troubleshooting. The Member will also promote cybersecurity fundamentals, such as scam prevention and digital privacy, and maintain accurate client intake records, track skill-development outcomes, and log service metrics in accordance with program procedures and applicable data privacy requirements.

Key Responsibilities

The ACC Member will:

  • Direct Client Support & Navigation
    • Provide personalized assistance to clients with mobile devices, laptops, and internet connectivity.
    • Guide residents through the eligibility and application process for the federal Lifeline program.

  • Local Capacity Building
    • Create training guides for our staff and volunteers to help them better support the digital needs of our clients.
    • Lead the development and support the launch of a user-friendly web portal to centralize local resources for the public.

  • Community Outreach
    • Identify and connect with local groups (seniors centers, libraries, veterans organizations) to promote digital inclusion services.
    • Coordinate with local partners to ensure our digital resources are reaching the people who need them most.

All activities performed by the AmeriCorps Member will occur under staff supervision and within the approved AmeriCorps position description and program scope. The Member serves in a direct service and capacity-building role and may not independently manage programs, supervise staff or contractors, determine eligibility, engage in fundraising or grant writing leadership, or perform duties that duplicate, displace, or supplant employees or contractors.
