About the Position: This position is for an Engineering Technician (Civil) in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District. Position may be filled at the GS-07, GS-08 or GS-09.
Establishing, collecting, editing, and processing hydrographic survey data for condition, pre-/ post-dredge surveys, post-flood surveys, engineering surveys, and scour surveys using HYPACK and associated survey software.
Collecting and editing multibeam data using survey vessels to assure accuracy by performing appropriate overlap checks and comparisons following standardized software processes of quality assurance.
Processing hydrographic survey data to establish and compute parameters for use in making engineering computations for yardage estimates, shoaling rates, and cross-sections.
Serving as a field specialist on hardware and software systems used to conduct hydrographic surveys.
Developing products from processed survey data using Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) and similar software programs.
Preparing survey reports documenting technical results of study/investigation, providing technical evaluation to team members.
