This is a professional role in the field of occupational therapy, focused on the evaluation, planning, implementation, and supervision of therapeutic activities, specific to the Sensory Room for individuals with physical disabilities. The Certified Occupational Therapist Aide (COTA) is responsible for delivering prescribed treatments, monitoring progress, adjusting therapy plans as needed, and maintaining documentation. The COTA provides in-service education to aides and relevant staff, covering topics such as medical terminology, human anatomy, developmental milestones, intellectual disabilities, and therapeutic modalities. The role requires an associate degree of independent judgment, initiative, and problem-solving within established procedures and under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist and Executive Director. The therapist also oversees the work of the employee working in the sensory rooms.
