NYC ELA In-person Tutors '26/'27

About the Role

HeyTutor has partnered with a school in the Bronx to provide high-impact, in-person tutoring to high school students. Applicants must have completed an Associate’s degree or higher. 

We are hiring ELA Tutors to support students in grades k-2nd. This is a great opportunity for college students, aspiring educators, and education professionals looking for consistent hours, competitive pay, and meaningful work in their community.

An in-person background check is required.

Pay & Benefits

• $32-$38 per hour, based on education and experience

Schedule

• Monday–Friday availability required
   
• Must be Available from 8:00am-2:12pm

Requirements

• Completed AA degree or higher
• Experience working with children or tutoring preferred
• Comfortable tutoring Elementary School Math 
• Ability to manage large groups of students independently
• Comfortable working in a classroom setting
• Ability to pass an FBI-DOJ in-person background check 
• Spanish Bilingual Required 

Key Responsibilities

• Tutor groups of students without direct teacher supervision
   
• Deliver lessons using provided curriculum and materials
   
• Create an engaging, welcoming learning environment
   
• Support positive student behavior and participation
   
• Track attendance and student progress using the HeyTutor Dashboard
   
• Assist with student assessments when requested
   
• Escort students to and from designated areas on campus
   
• Clock in/out daily using Deputy
   
• Complete additional duties as assigned
