NURSE (OPERATING ROOM)

About the Position: This position is for the Department of Perioperative Nursing, Main Operating Room (MOR) at Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center located at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Provide direct nursing care, of a highly specialized nature, to patients undergoing major surgical procedures in the Operating Room.

Conduct initial perioperative assessment.

Review surgeon preference cards for desired medications, equipment, and surgical supplies.

Respond to the needs of the surgeon, anesthesia provider, and patient during each surgical procedure.

Provide oversight of sedated patients prior, during, and post-procedure.

Utilize simple and highly technical equipment.

Serve as charge nurse assuming the responsibility for promoting quality, cost-effective nursing care.
