Registered Nurse (Podiatry)

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
This Registered Nurse is located in Podiatry in Surgical Service at the Manchester VA location. This position is full-time at 40 hours per week. Duties are Included but are not limited to: Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrate the ability to work effectively and independently. Assists with managing and delegating Podiatry Clinic Team. Ensures rooms are cleaned, stocked, and that supplies are accessible to the providers (Orders stock from logistics) Manages, logs, and inventories Orthotics Scrubs rooms for outdated stock Works with sterile processing team to ensure instrument par levels are adequate for daily needs Works with Providers and MSAs for scheduling of Veterans appropriately Procures patient medical records from the providers outside the VA when not available in the Department of Veterans Affairs' Joint Legacy Viewer (JLV) database Reviews and processes podiatry consults Assists with triaging Veteran issues via telephone and secure messaging and responding accordingly Works with providers, surgical scheduling, and OR to assist with scheduling or coordinating surgical procedures and post procedural follow up appointments Provide wound care procedures and specialized foot and nail care for selected low-risk Veterans, including nail trimming, filing, debridement and reduction; care and reduction of dystrophic or thickened nails; and corn and callus care and/or reduction using approved instruments and techniques, in accordance with podiatry provider assessment and orders, established clinic protocols, documented RN competency, and applicable VHA and facility policies. Helps with minor procedure set-up in the office setting, including accessing appropriate medications through the automated medication storage/dispensing machine (Omnicell) as well as preparing injectables and performing Time Outs Assists providers with the annual diabetic PAVE reporting and follows up with veterans. Assists the Podiatry Clinic Team with the Department of Veterans Affairs' Prevention of Amputation in Veterans Everywhere (PAVE) initiative. This initiative, which helps providers identify and assist veterans who are high risk for amputation, by helping them to prevent possible amputation by providing diabetic education and follow-up care to ensure the veteran understands what they must do and follows up with their specific care.
