Retail Associate, Part-time

Title:  Retail Assistant, Part-time (20 hours a week) 

Reports to: Thrift Store Manager

Location: St. John XXIII Thrift Store | Fort Myers FL

Classification: Hourly/Nonexempt 

Overview

Proactively assist in the fulfillment of the mission of the Thrift Store through the effective and timely support of customers, donors, and volunteers. Responsible to maintain a clean, safe, and secure environment in the store. 

Job Responsibilities

• Oversite of volunteers at all skill, age, and physical function levels
• Maintain and/or direct volunteers to appropriate distribution areas to ensure safe storage and minimal damage of donations in the back room and safe placement of merchandise on the sales floor.
• Procure, store and stock all items purchased for store. 
• Sort, categorize, price and display all donations for sale floor
• Maintain files, receipts, daily cash register documentation
• Prepare weekly cash register documentation and receipts for Parish Bookkeeper.
• Close/Open the store and balance daily register/card terminals, prepare daily deposit.
• Other duties as assigned. 

• High School degree or equivalent 
• 1-3 years of work-related experience in stocking, logistics and/or retail. 
• Strong computer skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Experience operating cash register operating credit card machine.
• Knowledge of how to prepare bank deposits. 
• Understanding of safety in loading and unloading merchandise.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs./carry bags/boxes/furniture donations/merchandise regularly
• Ability to maintain balance while utilizing a ladder for merchandise and/or donations
• Valid driver’s license
